Phrasal Verbs

Turn up

Turn Up

= Getting loose, being wild, act crazy

(As a past tense it is spelled “turnt up.”)

Important note: This meaning of “turn up” is very modern, and spoken mostly by young people.  It is different than the phrasal verb turn up, meaning something is found. (Ex: I hope my missing watch turns up.)

Ex:  It was her birthday, so she wanted to drink alcohol and “turn up.”

Ex:  That party last was “turnt up!”  We drank so much beer, and got crazy.
