Give In

 Give In/ Into

= give up fighting or arguing, even though you don’t really want to.

Ex.  When I took my child to the store, he started crying “I want a toy.”  I didn’t want to buy a toy, but I “gave in” and bought a toy so he would stop crying.

Ex.  He was tired of arguing with his wife, so he finally “gave in” to her choice to paint the room pink.

Popular phrases:

“Give in to temptation”

= Even though you think it is bad, or unhealthy, you should do it anyway.

“Give in to peer pressure”

= Your friends persuade you to do or try something you don’t want to do.  Ex. Drugs, alcohol, watch a Julia Roberts movie.
