Play It By Ear

= to decide how to deal with a situation as it develops instead of planning how you are going to react

Ex:  I don’t really like to make plans for the future.  I’ll just “play it by ear.”

Ex:  I’m not sure how long I will stay at the party.  I’ll “play it by ear.”
