Unique Australian slang and expressions:

Maccas = McDonalds

thongs = flip flops

ankle biters =  children

bludger = lazy person

fair dinkum = for real

she’s a beauty = it’s fantastic

she’ll be ripe = it’s fine, don’t worry

off my face / off my tits = drunk, under the influence of drugs

pisser = a funny person

take the piss = make fun of

hard yakka = hard labor worker, (construction worker, etc.)

shithouse = really bad

shitter = toilet

You give me the shits = you are really annoying me

“You have to be tough to be an Australian.”

Australians have taken over the movie industry.

Differences between Sydney and Melbourne.

Friday Knockoff = people get off work early on Friday and drink alcohol.

“Having the opportunity to have another go at starting a new life is what Australia is about.”
