Bark Up the Wrong Tree
= picking the wrong person to do, to listen or to accept something
Ex: I can’t believe he is blaming me for eating his food. He “barked up the wrong tree” because I didn’t eat it.
Ex: You are “barking up the wrong tree,” if you think I want to join your religion.
