Freak Out = to lose control of one’s self because of extreme emotions, mental illness, or drugs Ex: When he found his wife was sleeping with another man, he “freaked out.” Ex: Today I have a test, but I forgot to study, so I’m “freaking out.”
Standout = exceptionally good *IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a little different than the phrasal verb, stand out. “Standout” is used as a noun or adjective Ex: He was a “standout” athlete and student. So he got a college scholarship. Ex: At the food contest, the “standouts” were the homemade ravioli and the barbeque chicken.
Stand Out = easy to see/ hear/ taste etc. from others around it *IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a little different than the noun/ adjective standout. Stand out is a phrasal verb.
